The long anticipated half marathon came and went last Saturday. You know that things in your life have changed a little bit when people ask how the race went and you are happy to tell them that you finished. I never used to be content with 'just finishing' but I was last Saturday. It made for a long 13.1 miles when I started to get large blisters during the first mile. Mile 12 seemed to last forever for me and Jen felt a little bit like Rocky during her last two miles (more like the Rocky with the swollen eyes than the Rocky at the top of the stairs jumping in victory)
The best part about the whole day was that in the finishing shoot 7 Eleven had a booth with free food. I crossed the line and then got myself a hot dog and a chocolate milk! The lady holding the banana and Gatorade next to me looked at me as if I had just made a huge mistake. I simply looked at her and said "what? you think I ran 13.1 miles for a banana? You're crazy! Give me a footlong!"
The next best part was the free massage. There was a long line for the free massage so Tyler and I went over to another booth where the massage therapists didn't have a line. It looked like it was for pay or for something special but we asked if we could have a massage anyway. I was sure they noticed how good looking we were and our fragrant smell because they agreed. During the middle of the massage a lady came over and said that we were illegal and that only the people who worked for 4Life were allowed to get massages here. I assured her that my friend Dave runs their office in Taiwan and that I would be sure to thank him. She thought highly of Dave and the therapist continued for another 10 min or so. It was Great! But now Jen and I have sore legs and it is difficult to navigate the stairs and even though Hilary helped me switch the language I still have Chinese setting when I log into my blog to make changes. I guess this is a work in progress. I guess all posting will come from me until we fix this or Jen learns to read Chinese characters.

Way to work the system there for the massages!
Wait until you have kids and you will be thrilled with squeezing in a run, much less completing a big race. :)
You guys are amazing! I hope that one day I can do a half marathon with you. For now I'll stick with the 5K.
Benson wants me to enter a race with other "moms" (aka, old slow ladies). A 5k one day... maybe, but a half marathon? Never!
I'm so happy that you two have a blog. I hope you get things figured out soon! I'm still learning and sometimes feel like I'm reading chinese when I need to make changes :)
Ditto to what Tif wrote! Blisters...no fun. Way to go to two!
